Julian's favourite restaurants and bars around the world

Julian, co-owner and operator of Loof, Tanjong Beach Club, Lucha Loco and Super Loco – Roomorama blog

Julian is born to Chinese and Australian parents. He's worked in Kuala Lumpur, London, Perth, Jakarta and Singapore as an overworked investment banker, before seeing the light and deciding to start his own F&B businesses. Currently the co-owner and operator of a number of restaurants and bars in Singapore including Loof, Tanjong Beach Club, Lucha Loco and Super Loco, Julian loves what he does. In fact on most nights, you'll probably find him at any of these restaurants helping out.

As a proprietor of F&B establishments in Singapore, share your favourite bars and restaurants overseas that you love!

Ceviche (London) – This place does amazing Peruvian food along with their sister restaurant Andina in Shoreditch.

Tonteria (London) – Mexican-themed nightclub in swanky Sloane Square. Too much fun!

Gjelina (Los Angeles) – Casual dining doesn’t get much better than this Venice Beach favourite.

Frenchie to Go (Paris) – fantastic casual sandwich spot in Paris

Hartwood (Tulum, Mexico) – Fresh local seafood and produce in an outdoor setting. Amazing hearty food

Cumulus (Melbourne) – my must go brunch and coffee spot when in Melbourne

Bibo (Hong Kong) – an art-meets-food, French fine dining restaurant with quirky interior.

Mr Wong (Sydney) – a Cantonese restaurant pays homage to classic Chinese influencs in a contemporary style. The décor, food and ambience blows me away every time.

Have you ever stayed in a non-hotel accommodation on any of your trips?

I have rented a small apartment in St-Germain, Paris where I stayed on a recent trip there. I liked that I had a kitchen where I could prepare breakfast and simple meals, I liked that it was more spacious than a hotel room, and I liked that I got to experience life like a local Parisian.
